The Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia has an opening for an economist conducting research in any area of banking and finance, but especially in the areas of financial institutions and financial contracting. Applicants at all levels of experience will be considered, and both theoretical and empirical economists are encouraged to apply. The main responsibilities will include actively engaging in academic research for publication in top-tier academic journals, participating in Federal Reserve System projects, briefing the Bank's president on policy issues, and writing nontechnical articles for our Economic Insights publication. Excellent research skills are vital, as are good writing and speaking skills. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in economics or finance or reasonably expect to complete all requirements for the degree by September 2019. Experienced applicants must have a proven ability to publish in academic journals. The department offers an outstanding research environment and competitive salary and benefits.
Applications will only be accepted online via Econjobmarket at www.econjobmarket.org. (Follow the web page’s instructions under “info for candidates.”) Your application should include your vita, at least one research paper, and three letters of recommendation, and must be submitted by December 2, 2018. The Bank is an equal opportunity employer. CONTACT: Ms. Monica Wiley-Curtis, Banking Recruiting, Email address: Recruiting_Banking_Finance@phil.frb.org.
